The Sri Lankan culture embraces collectivism and the traditional values of Theravada Buddhism, a belief system which inherently functions against the fostering of entrepreneurial spirit. Removing impediments to entrepreneurship is a key challenge for the country.

Findings: Sri Lanka is presently recovering from the destruction of the economy because of 30 years of civil war. The country is confronted by high government debt representing almost 80% of the GDP. Almost half of the population lived on less than $5 per day in 2013.

Originality/value: Using Sri Lanka as a case in point, this paper assesses the influence culture has on entrepreneurship and explores initiatives and measures that can be used to strengthen inherent cultural values that stimulate entrepreneurial spirit, encourage risk-taking, and in turn promote economic development.

Paper type: Research paper.
Lee Keng Ng, Balbir Bhasin, Jim Beard ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.narotama.ac.id/index.php/ijebd/article/view/1482 Tue, 30 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0700 Household Challenges, Family Dynamism and Online Learning under COVID-19 Pandemic in a South African University https://jurnal.narotama.ac.id/index.php/ijebd/article/view/1535
Purpose: Reduce the spread of the virus amongst people, especially students and lecturers, thus online learning was introduced in 2020. This study aims to find the right time to invest by studying data in the previous period.

Design/methodology/approach: In this study, we collect daily data on Net Asset Value (NAV) prices from January to September 2021, by analyzing calculations using the double exponential smoothing method to predict the time with the lowest price for investing.

Findings: The results showed that this study was able to predict the right time to invest in mutual funds using the Holt Double Exponential Smoothing method using the actual smoothing data parameter of 0.9 (alpha) and the trend data smoothing parameter of 0.1 (beta) with produces a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value of 0.85343. The right time to invest in this research is determined on November 2, 2021 with an estimated net asset value (NAV) of 2348.644032.

Paper type: Research paper

Keywords: Mutual Fund, Investment Time, Investment Tool, Double Exponential Smoothing.
Achmad Muchayan, I Putu Artaya, Made Kamisutara ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.narotama.ac.id/index.php/ijebd/article/view/1590 Tue, 30 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0700 Analysis of the Level of Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Convenience of Using a Pedal Powered Water Pump for Irrigation Activities https://jurnal.narotama.ac.id/index.php/ijebd/article/view/1597
Purpose: Analyze the level of efficiency, effectiveness, and convenience of using a pedal-powered water pump for irrigation activities.

Design/methodology/approach: This study uses a qualitative approach by conducting interviews, observations, and documentation on farmers in Carat Village, Pasuruan Regency and conducting descriptive analysis of the data that has been collected.

Findings: The results show that the use of a pedal-powered water pump has various benefits, including efficiency, effectiveness, convenience for farmers, and other benefits.

Research limitation/implications: This research is limited to land that has the same geographical conditions

Practical implications: This research is limited to land that has the same geographical conditions.

Originality/value: This research is original

Paper type: Research paper
Mochammad Hatta, Ida Kusnawati Tjahjani, Nurmawati Nurmawati ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.narotama.ac.id/index.php/ijebd/article/view/1597 Tue, 30 Nov 2021 00:00:00 +0700
