The Strengthening Employee Commitment in a Muslim Fashion Retail Company: The Roles of Emotional Intelligence, Self-Efficacy, and Perceived Organizational Support
Abstract
Purpose: Employee commitment is a psychological state that has direct implications on the decision to retain or terminate membership. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the role of emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, and organizational support in increasing the commitment of employees of Muslim fashion retail companies in Cirebon City through a systematic and structured quantitative approach.
Design/methodology/approach: This study applied a descriptive-quantitative approach with a population as well as a sample of 83 employees. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire instrument distributed online using the Google Forms platform, with a four-point Likert model measurement scale. The data analysis was carried out in stages, including multiple linear regression tests, partial and simultaneous hypothesis testing, and path analysis with the support of SPSS 25 software.
Findings: The results of the analysis confirmed that the ability to manage emotions had a positive and real effect on the level of employee loyalty at PT GIIZ Sejahtera (t-count 7.415 > t-table 1.999; p = 0.037). Confidence in self-capacity also showed a significant impact on strengthening the affective bonds of workers in the same company (t = 2,117 > 1,999; p = 0.002). Similarly, perceptions of institutional support were statistically shown to increase organizational commitment (t = 6,956 > 1,999; p < 0.001). Overall, all three predictor variables—both when tested separately and combined—make a substantial and meaningful contribution to shaping employee attachment to the organization.
